Workshop Instructor: Grandmaster Zhao Youbin

Grandmaster Zhao Youbin, the 5th generation inheritor in the Yang Taijiquan family tree, is President of Xi'an Yongnian Yang Family’s Taiji Association, Vice President of Xi'an Wushu Association, Vice Director of the Department of Taijiquan of Shaanxi Province, China, and Director of Zhao Youbin Yang’s Taijiquan Training Centre. He is also a Committee Member of the Wushu Branch of the National Society of Sports and Science. In recognition of his contribution for promoting Taijiquan in China and overseas, including Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, US and Australia, he was awarded the prestigious title of National Wushu Duan Level 8 by the Chinese government. In August 2016, he was awarded the 9th Duan by the World Fighting Martial Arts Federation (WFMAF) of USA.

Workshop Instructor: Master Zhao Liang

Master Zhao Liang, the 6th generation inheritor in the Yang Taijiquan family tree is the Vice-President of the Xi’an Yongnian Yang Family Taiji Association. He started his Yang Taijiquan training since the age of 7.  He acquired his knowledge and skills directly from his grandfather Zhaobin (also a Grandmaster 1909-1999) and father Zhao Youbin. With over 30 years of practice, he won numerous gold medals in China’s national and international Taijiquan competition.  Master ZhaoLiang is currently a level 7 of the Chinese WuShu duo Wei system. He also holds the following titles: A member of the Xi’an WuShu Association; Honorary President and Chief Instructor of Hong Kong Zhao Youbin Taiji Association; Honorary Consultant of the American Tai Chi Association; and Vice-President of the Shenzhen Yang’s Taiji Association.

Workshop Content:

  • Traditional Yang style 85 forms, with full explanation of each of the forms
  • Body (including hand and foot) alignment in executing each of the forms
  • Taiji walking (foot flow) for correct stances and postures
  • Taiji (foot and hand) movements for body co-ordination and balance
  • Execution and application of 85 forms in a martial arts context
  • Core strengths and health benefits derived from 85 forms

Workshop Outcomes:

  • Certificate of completion of the workshop
  • A one page summary of the 85 forms in both English and Chinese
  • Solid foundation and/or proficiency in ongoing practice of 85 forms
  • Increased knowledge, skills and confidence in the practice of 85 forms
